South Africans are invited to make use of an exciting new special offer from Sanbona Wildlife Reserve that is valid throughout Easter and the school holidays, until 30 September 2021 (subject to availability).

Explore the wilderness with a 3-night stay at Sanbona (inclusive of all meals and non-alcoholic drinks, twice daily nature drives with drinks, as well as guided walks), before continuing your adventure from the Klein Karoo via Route 62 to the coast. In Cape Town you will enjoy a complimentary overnight stay at the Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa, inclusive of full English breakfast, a room upgrade and access to the hydrotherapy facilities at The Spa.

Sanbona is known as the Western-Cape’s premier wildlife destination. Only three hours from Cape Town, it offers a diverse, authentic wildlife experience, yet it is the alluring isolation amid the raw beauty and boundless plains, which sets it apart.

Romantic Dwyka Tented Lodge is embraced by striking rock formations and set in the horseshoe bend of a dry Karoo ravine that is framed by a beautifully weathered landscape.  The spacious lounge and dining areas boast stylish, modern interiors, wooden decks that make the most of the glorious setting and a boma for dining under the stars. The accommodation is luxurious and private. Each of the nine luxury tents has an en-suite bathroom and a private deck with a Jacuzzi that epitomises the romance of a pioneering wilderness adventure.

Sanbona’s Gondwana Family Lodge has 12 suites where children of all ages are welcome. The spacious thatched lodge overlooks the dam and is ideal for groups of friends and families travelling together. The lodge offers comfortable lounge and relaxation areas and delicious, wholesome farm-style Karoo cuisine is served. Facilities include a kids’ TV lounge, indoor and outdoor play areas and a child-friendly swimming pool. Inter-leading rooms are available and all suites come with a comfortable sleeper couch to accommodate a child sharing with parents. The Sanbona Kids on Safari programme offers interesting educational and thrilling recreational wildlife experiences for the young ones.

Sanbona aims to create balance where critically important ecosystems, endangered wildlife and flora can prosper. Positioned in a convergence zone of varied biodiversity hotspots of succulent Karoo and fynbos biomes, 58 000 hectares of big, Karoo sky country offers breathtaking scenery that will transport you to a place where time stands still, and nature takes centre stage.

Under the stewardship of non-profit conservation organisation the Caleo Foundation, Sanbona Wildlife Reserve in the Little Karoo and sister propertyJock Safari Lodge in the Kruger National Park have been pioneers of conservation, reserve development and eco-tourism. Sustainability and responsible utilisation are the cornerstones of all lodge operations.

Recognised as one of South Africa’s largest privately-owned reserves, Sanbona stretches across 58 000 hectares of the wide-open plains of the Klein Karoo, and is known as the Western-Cape’s premier wildlife destination. It is situated close to Montagu, a three-hour scenic drive from Cape Town along Route 62, and offers an authentic safari experience in a malaria-free area.

Sanbona is a sanctuary for indigenous flora and fauna, including the Big 5, but it is the vastness of the landscape and the alluring isolation amid the raw beauty and boundless plains which sets it apart.

Sanbona offers guests a choice of four different lodges and camps. Dwyka Tented Lodge accommodates 18 guests in nine luxury tents with private Jacuzzis to offer a unique wilderness experience for couples; while Tilney Manor is a refuge of peace and tranquillity, catering for only 12 guests in six spacious open-plan suites leading on to private verandas. With 12 suites Gondwana Family Lodge offer the Kids on Safari programme and caters for families with children of all ages and small groups travelling together; while the Explorer Camp operates seasonally during the summer months to offer an authentic walking experience for up to six guests (16-years and older), exploring the Karoo while sleeping in luxury tents and enjoying evenings around a campfire.
