Fairmont Hotels and Resorts in Kenya reveals new strategic direction

Fairmont Hotels and Resorts Kenya is repositioning its properties as a three-stop destination – The Norfolk, Mount Kenya Safari Club and Mara Safari Club. The primary markets are the UK, mainland Europe and the US with secondary target markets Asia and Australia.

Guillaume Durand, Group Director Sales & Marketing, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts Kenya, said: “We are launching a new communications campaign to position our Kenyan properties as a three-stop destination. Drawing on the unique characteristics, location and heritage of each hotel, we aim to highlight the benefits of experiencing all three to both business and leisure travellers, including meetings, conferences and incentives. With easy transportation between properties either via small aircraft or road, guests have the opportunity to discover the best of the city, beautiful natural landscapes and the adventure of safaris.”


The three-stop experience will see travellers beginning their journey at Fairmont The Norfolk in Nairobi. The property is an optimal city base to explore wildlife conservancies such as the Giraffe Centre and the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club is the former home of actor William Holden and is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site overlooking Mount Kenya. It has a nine-hole golf course – the only golf course in Africa to bisect the equator. Additional incentive options embrace the surroundings and range from hiking to adventure survival.

Laurent Chaudet, GM of Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club, said: “The hotel provides guests with a unique blend of relaxation and adventure. The day can begin game watching and change dramatically to mountain climbing or move at a more leisurely pace with horse riding excursions, golf or R&R by the pool.”

The final stop is Fairmont Mara Safari Club in the north west of the Masai Mara at the foot of Aitong Hills. The camp is located on an oxbow of the Mara River, with all en-suite tents looking out onto the river. Activities include guided safari game drives and during the migration season from July to October, guests can view the herds of wildebeest crossing at the the reserve.

Munene Ngotho, GM, Fairmont Mara Safari Club, said guests have the opportunity to see the Big 5 along with cultural experiences such as village visits.
