Four Best Places to Visit in Africa While Playing Microsoft Flight Simulator

Microsoft Flight Simulator is one of the most popular games in the world, and there is a good reason why. It’s more than just a game. Through Microsoft Flight Simulator, you can get a realistic look at real-world locations through the lens of a pilot, giving you breathtaking views of some of the most incredible places in the world. This includes Africa, a popular wishlist location and somewhere many people dream of visiting.

Here are four best places to visit in Africa while playing Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Cape Town, South Africa

Cape Town, situated at the southwestern tip of South Africa, is an iconic destination in Microsoft Flight Simulator. The city is framed by the iconic Table Mountain, offering an impressive backdrop for takeoffs and landings at Cape Town International Airport. As you approach the city, the striking blend of natural beauty and urban development becomes apparent.

Flying over Cape Town provides a spectacular view of its varied landscapes. The rugged coastline (which features pristine beaches such as Camps Bay and Clifton) contrasts beautifully with the lush vineyards of the nearby Winelands. The city’s many architectural landmarks, including the Cape Town Stadium and the historical Robben Island, can add to the richness of the visual experience.

Victoria Falls, Zambia/Zimbabwe

Next up, we have Victoria Falls. This is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the world, straddled in between the borders of Zambia and Zimbabwe. Taking off from Victoria Falls Airport in Zimbabwe or Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport in Zambia, you can witness the Zambezi River as it plunges over 100 metres into the gorge below.

The sheer scale and power of the falls are beautifully rendered in the simulator, complete with the mist and rainbows that often form above the chasm. Flying low over the falls offers a thrilling perspective, allowing you to see the intricate details of the cascading water and the surrounding lush rainforest.

If you would like to experience Victoria Falls in a different light, there’s a hot new Aviator online game available to South African players that you could try if you would like an arcade spin on the genre – it can be nice to try something different.

Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania

Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest peak in Africa,  and it’s a must-visit location for virtual pilots in Microsoft Flight Simulator. Rising majestically from the plains of Tanzania, Kilimanjaro’s snow-capped summit is an iconic landmark that attracts climbers and adventurers from around the world.

Starting your journey from Kilimanjaro International Airport, you can navigate your way towards the towering mountain through clear skies and sunny weather. The approach to Kilimanjaro is awe-inspiring, with the vast savannah giving way to the imposing silhouette of the mountain.

As you ascend, the terrain changes from lush forests at the base to barren, rocky landscapes near the summit. The simulator captures the dramatic shifts in climate and vegetation, offering a visually stunning and challenging flight experience.

The Pyramids of Giza, Egypt

Last but not least, we have the Pyramids of Giza. Being one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world, this location provides a fascinating destination in Microsoft Flight Simulator. Located just outside Cairo, Egypt, these ancient structures stand as a testament to the engineering prowess of the ancient Egyptians.

Departing from Cairo International Airport, you can follow the Nile River to reach the Giza Plateau. The simulator’s realistic rendering allows you to see the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Pyramid of Khafre, and the Pyramid of Menkaure in great detail.

Flying over these monumental structures offers a unique perspective on their scale and alignment. The nearby Sphinx, with its enigmatic expression, adds to the allure of the site. This journey not only provides a visual feast but also evokes a sense of historical wonder.

Conclusion

With Microsoft Flight Simulator, you can get a good look at these locations without taking one step out of your home. It might not be as good as the real thing, but it can certainly give you a rough idea of what to expect. That goes without even mentioning the added fun of piloting your very own plane.

Regardless of where you look in Africa, every little corner has something special to see and do.
