Visit Stellenbosch has launched Stellenbosch Wine Walks to encourage locals (and visitors) to discover the wealth of outdoor beauty – not to mention food and wine appeal of Stellenbosch.

These Saturday wine walks were born out of a need to directly support tourism entrepreneurs, guides, tour operators and small businesses by offering this unique tourism product, appealing to travellers eager to enjoy the great outdoors.

“By joining a Stellenbosch Wine Walk, you are directly contributing to the rebuilding of the tourism economy, instilling hope and providing opportunities to the benefit of our communities,” says Jeanneret Momberg, CEO of Visit Stellenbosch.

“Through this walk you will have supported a tour guide; Ida’s Valley Community Trails; the Banhoek Conservancy; the roosterkoek tannie from Kylemore; the brownie tannie from Ida’s Valley, two wineries, a farm restaurant and a Pniël transport service.

“We’ve been incredibly encouraged following feedback received on the walks, with many dates already sold out. Guests have commented that they would never have experienced the region in this way and have been blown away by the restorative, therapeutic appeal of these walks in nature. A glass of wine has also never tasted this good!”

“Stellenbosch is incredibly special in that we have the most stunning natural scenery and getting outdoors to appreciate the great outdoors in a different way, combining it with our wonderful food and wine offering, is yet another way we can showcase the many reasons to visit Stellenbosch. Our small businesses and entrepreneurs are so excited to welcome visitors – and watch them experience Stellenbosch from a whole new perspective. This is just one of the many ways Visit Stellenbosch is actively supporting and promoting Stellenbosch as an attractive and safe region to visit, while most importantly, helping our local tourism economy get back on its feet.”

The Stellenbosch Wine Walk rate includes the guide’s fee; transport to the starting point; conservancy and hiking permit; two wine tastings; lunch and a local snack en route. The walk costs R500 per person with a maximum of 13 guests. Private walks can be arranged for groups of 13 people or less.

Visitors are advised to book as early as possible as many walks are already fully booked.
